NBC Universal Vs iTunes

In today New York Times Brooks Barnes published an article about NBC Universal that decided not to renew its contract to sell digital downloads to iTunes.
NBC Universal is the No 1 supplier to iTunes.
No comments from the two sides.

Japan at the top

In a post 'A Tale of Two Cities' in SAVE THE INTERNET blog, they explain that in Japan the broadband speed is up to 30 times faster than in US and that only a decade ago, DSL was slower and pricer than in America. The Japanese are very fast...
Japan has the world's fastest Internet connections.
They make a reference to an original article in the Washington Post.

Blogosphere survey.

More women blogging than men as blogs hit mainstream. Under this title the Tech.Blorge.com, made a post about a survey by Synovate/Marketing in US. This survey revealed that 80% of Americans know what a blog is, 50% regularly visit blogs, and 8% publish their own blog.
Also 20% of American women who have visited blogs own one versus 14% of men.
More interesting facts in this article for those who are looking for a way in the blogosphere...

Blog Day recommendations.

From my French window, it's a blog with funny and fresh photos. I like the 'about this patch', specially the chapter on view of life. It's an example of open minded people because of mixed culture. Blog in English.
Tea stains, it's a blog from an English expat in Bangkok, writing about thoughts and experiences. I simply like the way things are exposed with simple photos. Have a look and you will come back regularly. Blog in English.
Tendance High-Tech, it's a blog about design BUT not the usual 'high-tech hyper commercial' usually see on the Net. Sometime it come with some music to listen, nice too. Worth to visit. Blog in French and English version.

LiveJournal in the storm.

Under the title 'LiveJournal says users are responsible for content of links' in Slashdot posted by samzenpus, they reported the problems that LiveJournal have with users who link with 'porn or paedophile contents'.
My view on this problem is very simple, EVERYTHING on the Net is tracked from A to Z, so it's possible to stop at the source the dirty sites. But for some reasons nothing or little is done about it. Probably for insane reasons from 'services' who have the power to act.
Now all the users of the Net (we) have to do something and stop turning around the pot! I do not have any power or prestigious friends but I'm ready to take part of any action! If serious people using the net decide to do it. And you?

NoSo.

If you are seek of social platform like MySpace, now you have the NoSocial platform NoSo. Yeaah I'm not joking, they call it a 'real-world platform for temporary disengagement from social networking environments'. Read their About page. They decide to meet somewhere, to disconnect everything, do not speak to anybody, to hide their ID... Anyway you have to register. Maybe it's the beginning of a new global movement.

Censor police on the net

The journal 'Le Monde' published today an article in connection with the 10th birthday of the blogosphere by saying that in China they have around 40 000 internet cops for 162 millions bloggers... How many are they in occident? (the censors).

Blogosphere

In the Guardian online today, Scott Rosenberg wrote an article on the 'planet blog'. Yes it's around a decade ago that the blogging world emerged from a garden shed, and it's very hard to say who did it, probably not one person alone, better to say few people at the same time start it. But at 10 years old the blogosphere is growing, and as usual when something new arrive you always have sceptical (skeptical in US) people. Not a problem!
But first it will be good if we stop to confront mainstream media and blogs, we can see good and bad quality in both!
Second, because I live in the UK I would like to see the English blogosphere more active, in many other part of the world like in the US or in France it's big and with a lot of creativity.
Third, we need to be vigilant, to avoid some powerful people, corporations, or politician from removing this tool of self-expression, because they cannot control it.
I would like to see more good quality article like the Scott Rosenberg one!

The future of video games II

Read the reaction about David Cameron BlaBla on MCV, With reference on interview on the video game policy of the tory party with Jeremy Hunt, Shadow Secretary of State for Culture. Interesting...

The future of video games.

In Guardian online today it's reported that David Cameron (tory leader) would want to ban violent computer and video games as part of a raft measures to combat crime in Britain. I do not know where he found the link between violent video game and crime!? Another future H....r? He would have to demonstrate what he mean by 'violent'? what about the behavior of politicians who inspired crime films. The reactions that provoke the footballers on fans who become very violent hooligans, he will ban football as well?
He is confused on the reasons why the violence exist in our society.

Digital Britain

In today BBC online, under the name of " Britain enjoying 'digital boom' ", they explain how the life of Britons change very fast and they abandoning classic medias like TV, radio and DVDs for modern technology. This article make a reference to the annual report from Ofcom. The move is in favor of mobile phone, the net, and gaming.
Now they need to learn about blogs...

Wi-Fi hotspots.

It's only the beginning of the " hotspots war". The article from Dom Joly in the Independent on Sunday published today about is experiences to be connected via an open Wi-Fi demonstrate the immaturity of the people on the subject.
When we go to a cafe, pub, or restaurant we should be able to connect to the web for free, it's another service like to have access to free newspapers. I think it's time to write and rate the places where we can connect to make ( London, it's where I live) but everywhere it's the same thing free Wi-Fi zones. Before some people like Ken the red make a kind of congestion charge on it!

The power of blogs

In a post of the Editors of the BBC NEWS ' the purpose of TV', I feel that they are ( old mainstream dinosaur media) afraid of the fact that "...everyone can publish content and there are millions of sources of information to choose from ...
Don't even think about taking off this democratic tool (blogs and other tech things!)
Yes now we can broadcast from a laptop, it something that the 'dictators apprentice' don't like... Long life!
Good blog if you want to now more about internet KAIROI. Read the post about Vint Cerf one of the father of the internet, One of the Man that many people wish he never existed! Not me of course.

Social-networking

Today's link to an article in ' THE INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY' about social-networking on ' Facebook' and the danger to be addicted to it. Why many people choose the extreme side and not the middle way of 'things'?

Second Life

I read today in the guardian online an article from Marina Hyde about Second Life. I recommend it strongly, it should be published on Second Life. For me this kind on website (Second Life) it's for people who have nothing to do. I do not have and many people I know as well the time to do everything in real life, then we will need to pay to rehabilitate this people to come back to real life... No! Tell them we will not take any complains!!
But it's very good to sell virtual things to real people, carry on...
Latest, do they will shoot people as young as 11 years as well (virtually)?

Virtual stealing

When I see news like in the Guardian, than a man have been arrested on suspicion of stealing a connection, I prefer laugh! Everyday news of shooting around UK make me seek . SO!!!!! the police have nothing more important to do?
People are reaching the ' melting point' , the people who supposed to be arrested are the ones who leave their wireless network wide open, because they try to trap surfers. If they do not want other people using their network they can secure it. Do they leave their homes wide open? No. That's my opinion. Seriously... Stealing a virtual connection HAHAHAHAHHA...

Apple store

I just read the Secret Diary of Steve , about the opening day of a Mc store (Apple store) in Scotland... In Glasgow!!!!!???? Well good luck, like it's written they will have to manage the aggressive atmosphere in Glasgow. By the way when do they plan to open an Apple store in France, Paris and not clichy!
The battle between the Apple and Microsoft fans will probably be more soft (war). Is one Apple store in France ? I would like to see more French people using less the microsoft products.

iphone with Orange.

Many media report that Orange sign an accord with Apple to commercialize the iphone in France, but apparently they didn't sign anything yet. If Orange and Apple make a deal 10% of the revenues of 'data transfer' using the iphone will be reversed to Apple!! Big deal for a phone maker and also first time. The rumours is that Apple will make the official presentation of the iphone and the deal with Orange at the Apple expo in Paris at the end of September. The availability for the users will be in October or November 2007.
The latest news; hackers find the way to use the iphone out of a restricted provider!??...

Nintendo Wii

The battle of the video-game hardware in France see by 23 rd August 2007 the Nintendo Wii passing first at 10.57 Million units sold, 60 000 more than the Xbox 360. The Sony PSP 3 still 3 rd with 4.32 million units. We can expect more choice on games in the future... On Wii!
Source VG Chartz.
Stats for the world... but in France it reflect the world chart.
